چکیده

ARTICLE HISTORY: Received 19 November 2015 Revised 22 December 2015 Accepted 27 December 2015 The Radar Cross Section of a target plays an important role in the detection of targets by radars . This paper presents a new method to predict the bistatic and monostatic RCS of coated electrically large objects. The bodies can be covered by lossy electric and/or magnetic Radar Absorbing Materials (RAMs) . These materials can be approximated by the Fresnel reflection coefficients . The proposed method uses modified Physical Optics (PO) approximation to obtain the object scattered field . One of the advantages is the use of Stationary Phase Method (SPM) to solve the PO integral . This is because the SPM reduces significantly the computation time required to solve this integral as compared to rigorously numerical integration techniques . Simulationresults are presented to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. The results are compared with commercial FEKO and CST software in order to show its superiority as far as the computation time is concerned .

A Novel Method for RCS Reduction of a Complex Shaped Aircraft Using Partial RAM Coating

In this paper, a novel method of partial coating to reduce the Radar Cross Section (RCS) of a complex shaped perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) aircraft, of electrically large size, is proposed. The physical optics (PO) method is used to identify the hot spots of the PEC aircraft. An empirical procedure is then proposed to coat partial contiguous areas with Radar Absorbent Material (RAM). ...

The Application of Modified Phase Extracted Basis Functions in Scattering Analysis of Dielectric-coated Targets

A novel basis function, called as the Modified Phase Extracted (MPE) basis function, has been proposed to analyze threedimensional scattering problems for electrically large, thin dielectriccoated targets. The MPE basis function, which can be defined on large (e.g., a wavelength or more) curvilinear geometrical elements, is developed for quadrilateral cells. Consequently, combining with the thi...

High-frequency Method Analysis on Scattering from Homogenous Dielectric Objects with Electrically Large Size in Half Space

The high-frequency method for solving the scattering from homogeneous dielectric objects with electrically large size in half space is presented in this paper. In order to consider the scattering fields of the targets in half space, the half-space physical optics method is deduced by introducing the half-space Green’s function into the conventional physical optics method (PO). Combined with the...

Different Methods That Reduce Cost in Monostatic Rcs Computations for Mom Accelerated by Mlfma

The problem of computing the monostatic Radar Cross Section with the Method of Moments accelerated by the multilevel Fast Multipole algorithm is considered. For electrically large objects the problem becomes too expensive in terms of computational work. This paper suggests two methods that can reduce the work, the Minimal Residual Interpolation method and a new fast approximate method related t...
